Léysha

The Princess
Heritage: Bakíran
Lineage: Éthríel
Léysha will be chosen to become a Princess at her Royal Auditions, at least that's what everyone believes. She's too beautiful not to be. Léysha yearns for the day when she can bathe in all those stares - all those jealous eyes, and lustful eyes. She's even ready to take on all those vengeful eyes.

The only thing that holds Léysha back is her little sister Sondja who just keeps getting in the way of her rise to pure perfection.
Léysha: The Beautiful

Sondja

The Seamstress
Heritage: Bakíran
Nickname: Jhé-Sendra
Lineage: Éthríel
If it wasn't for always being overshadowed by her older sister Léysha, Sondja might feel some self-worth. Her perpetual limp in her left knee doesn't help matters. But it seems that Sondja's destiny is to remain in the village, unmarried and unloved.
There is one thing that sets Sondja apart from the rest though - she wants nothing to do with becoming a Princess, like her sister. Instead, Sondja has a secret desire, one that's forbidden. And it's far greater than any Royal Crown. Perhaps if she finds this fate to be written in her future, Sondja will be able to leave the village and do great things. And if the Gods are truly with her, she may even find herself a part of the Song that is foretold.

Melakertys

The Magician
Heritage: Magician
Title: Melakertys Velarys of the Elementorum Vítrorum
Well, here I am - the one wrote this all. And I'm not as lovely of a sight as I used to be, if I ever had been deemed lovely. In fact, now all I really feel is old.

I had certainly been in my prime when I left my homeland to search for the Aqua Chakram's whereabouts in Bakíra. And yet, when looking upon all that I've done since then, and all that I have failed at, it does feel like a long time ago. Now when I see myself, it is not just what has passed that has driven these wrinkles across my skin, but my worries about that which is still to come keep furrowing them even deeper.

Alas, there is no stopping the passage of time, for the clock is always counting. All I can do in the meantime is make sure that the Verses sing true, that the Chorus chants with thunder, and that the melody rings with harmony in the Song begun by the ancients.

Tarklef: The Royal Servant

Tarklef

The Royal Servant
Heritage: Bakíran
Lineage: Rejhandral
Tarklef might just be a lowly Royal Servant working in the Palace Hall of Archives, but to Sondja, he's so much more. He makes her laugh, he helps her when she faces difficulties, and he has become Sondja's only friend. But there are just two problems with Tarklef. The first is that while Sondja's heart can't help but flutter from excitement whenever he's around, he's already engaged to another.

But the second problem is far worse. Because every time Tarklef flashes her his smile, Sondja can't help but feel that there's something too charming about him to be fully trusted.

Brína

Léysha's Best Friend
Heritage: Bakíran
Lineage: Verlyníam
Brína often says, "I will be a Princess if it's the last thing I do." And few ever doubt her. Because even if she isn't chosen for Royalty at her Auditions, she's surely ambitious enough to find another way.

Queen Màelyka

The Cursed Queen
Heritage: Bakíran
Lineage: unknown
Three hundred years ago, Màelyka was Bakíra's first Queen, but she also holds the unfortunate title of being the Queen that all Bakírans wish to forget. No one may ever know whether she married the Leper King because she wanted to, or because she was cursed into doing it. But by all accounts, Màelyka's decision to betray her people and marry a power-hungry Magician brought nothing but shame to the realm.

Màelyka's original name was Sondja. And for this reason, along with a few other odd coincidences, Sondja fears her life is following in the footsteps of this despised Queen from over three hundred years ago.

Yúrys

The Leper King
Heritage: Magician
Title: Yúrys of the Four Brothers of Babylon
        King of the Eastern Wind
Bakíra's first encounter with a Magician couldn't have been worse. The Leper King came several centuries ago as a deformed vagrant in a mask. But it didn't take long for him to unite the Lordships of Bakíra under his banner of power and fear. If what he embodied was magic, then perhaps that's why Bakírans to this day want nothing to do with Magicians.

Shazàel

The Horse Master
Heritage: Shadrúîn
Tribe: The People of Salt
Shazàel might have a cruel stare to match her penchant for never smiling. But there's no denying she also has a gentle touch with a steady hand when she works with the tribe's most temperamental horses.

Ethra

The Translator
Ethra: The Shadrúîn Translator
Heritage: Bakíran living with the Shadrúíin
Tribe: The People of Salt
Despite Ethra's inherent kindness, people have not always been kind to her. It was a true test of her strength to leave her people and join a Shadrúîn tribe, but it was also her only choice. Her Bakíran family made it clear that she was no longer wanted with them.

Now Ethra happily lives with The People of Salt, and even though it's not the life she'd always dreamed of, she's never looked back.

Kéyryn

The Raven Prince
Heritage: Magician
Title: Nynarsú, Prince of the Magicians, Anúnàk of Saturn, Carrier of the Lead Staff, and the Yúvíum
Kéyryn goes by many names, but none of them feel right. Even his father, King Amardúk, doesn't have confidence that Kéyryn will successfully fulfill his roles. If only the entire foretelling of the ancients didn't rest upon his shoulders. But because it does, Kéyryn knows he must now take his rightful place, pick up his staff of lead, and be who he is meant to be. No matter the cost.

Ombú

The Witch Priestess
Ombu: The Witch Priestess
Heritage: Ashka'anga
House: none
Those who hate the Witch Priestess call her a heretic, or a false leader pretending to feel the path of the Goddess Yanga. They say she spreads as many lies as she spreads curses, and that if enough of the Earth Folk start listening to her, she will incite an uprising. But those who love the Witch Priestess call her Mother Ombú, and they worship the very earth she treads on.

Perhaps she is blessed by the Goddess, or perhaps her path leads to the Underworld. But either way, she seems to possess a power of her own, for good or for evil.

Scorpion

The Imperial General
Heritage: Múrkhaní
Title: Dragon General of the Imperial Army
Though not one to fuss with decorations and ranks, Úrgúl, better known as Scorpion, is the top officer of the Imperial Army of Múrkhàn. He prides himself on being one with his troops, but it's his skill with the sword that sets him apart from the rest.

There's just one problem with being the top fighter of the Empire - everyone wants to take Scorpion down. And no one wants it more than the leaders of the Hànasen rebel Clans, who are all vying to hang his head from the rafters of their war tents.
